Geeklawyer’s temporary chambers

Piss takers

Since some of you – and you know who you are – are insistent on taking the piss out of his aesthetic choices Geeklawyer has changed themes again.

He has yielded to those who would suppress his artistic freedom of speech. There, you Saddam and North Korea lovers. Happy now? Good, because Mother Democracy weeps tears into her silk hanky.

  2. Now it truly looks like a Geek forum.

So you’ve done mp3s. Do we get the merits of vinyl next?

  4. I almost wept when I saw this… stylish, elegant…. almost neo kafkaesque baroque…. with a hint of 1980s peach… so prevalent then in the bedrooms of the Peter York inspired aspirational sloanes.

I did a Google search… and find, to my relief, that you have not taken up a second career as a celebrity designer…..

How goes it?… as a law professor I used to know used to say before he died whenever he met me. Now… when I see him, on my occasional trips across the river with yet another lawyer, he simply smiles and collects the coin.

  5. This is less grotesque, but lacks your usual flair. Even the North Koreans have character — I mean, just look at that marvelous 90s pastiche! Mother Democracy is clearly crying because she can’t afford a designer.

I daresay Saddam would have a better website, but he’s dead, so you caught a break šŸ˜›

  7. Good grief, Geeklawyer… Are you trying to irritate Prince Charles now? Your taste for modernism would not appeal to HRH one bit… but, I suspect, you are past caring about being awarded a Knighthood?…. I do hope so.

I am, of course, a republican. (Although partial to a Bourbon monrachist wine… of an evening)

I have an excuse. I am Roman…(descended from Julius Charon, Father to a murdered vineyard… husband to a pole dancing gladiatrix) and a Scot – a curious combination, I grant you, but one I have come to terms with.

Senatus populusque romanus… is always in my mind these days.

One day, and that day may never come… I shall call and ask of you a favour… for the family… capische ?

  8. GL… Thanks for the link “tellthemwhatyouthink”… I’ve taken your advice. I’ve told all the goernment organisations… I do hope they don’t close this temporary blog down on grounds of a ‘design offence against the state’…..

I noticed that “tellthemwhatyouthink” is in beta… a bit like much of government thinking at the moment, unfortunately. bring back Tony Blair, I say… and Derek Conway…. a winning double act.

  9. GL… someone has just come round and I’ve been waterboarded in a vat of Rioja…. I recant immediately. This design is absolutely superb.

I notice, also, that all my chairs and tables seem to have microphones attached to them. Do you know why this might be so?

At least i tell people, when I do podcasts, that I am recording them….

  10. GL… this getting ridiculous… a minicab has just pulled up outside the Staterooms and three men wearing gas masks want me to go to a pole dancing club with them…. I worry about our surveillance socety.

I had to tell them that it was my ancestor who was into pole dancing… not me. Clearly … ‘they’ are watching you very closely…. it only took them 15 minutes to locate me through Google Earth… at least that is what they said.

They were also selling brushes, cloths and rubber gloves….. for charity. I bought the lot and will shift them on Ebay later… if I remember…

  11. I do hope that my repeated posting on your temmporary blawg will not be recorded as a DDOS attack? Let me know…. but I assume you have electronic ‘flood control’ installed?… I find it very useful…. as is the breathalyser USB attachment from PC World which closes my laptop down late on a Friday night when I am roaring….

  12. At this time of night… my mind often turns to samuel taylor Coleridge’s poems… and commentaries. here is one of my favourites… as most of your readers may not be descended from, pole dancing gladiatrixes… I provide the official translation below…. interesting words….

Facile credo, plures esse Naturas invisibiles quam visibiles in rerum universitate. Sed horum omnium familiam quis nobis enarrabit ? et gradus et cognationes et discrimina et singulorum munera ? Quid agunt ? quae loca habitant ? Harum rerum notitiam semper ambivit ingenium humanum, nunquam attigit. – T. Burnet, Archaeol. Phil., p. 68 (slightly edited by Coleridge).

I can easily believe, that there are more invisible than visible Beings in the universe. But who shall describe for us their families? and their ranks and relationships and distinguishing features and functions? What they do? where they live? The human mind has always circled around a knowledge of these things, never attaining it. I do not doubt, however, that it is sometimes beneficial to contemplate, in thought, as in a Picture, the image of a greater and better world; lest the intellect, habituated to the trivia of daily life, may contract itself too much, and wholly sink into trifles. But at the same time we must be vigilant for truth, and maintain proportion, that we may distinguish certain from uncertain, day from night.
    — T. Burnet, Archaeol. Phil. p. 68 (1692)

I’m afraid I had to study Coleridge at school… it has remained with me, despite waterboarding, rioja drinking and teaching law, for 36 years since…

In Xanadu.. did Kublai Khan… etc etc… now that is a ‘poem’… and a tribute to narcotics….

  13. I thought the passage above was apprpriate… and may be some comfort to all who believe in / deny free speech.

On that note … I am going off to see if the Archbishop of Canterbury would like help drafting another speech…. the last one almost one “God idol’.

    Buona notte… one and all.

Opinionated Bean…. I pop into GL’s nightbclub on the net on a fairly regular basis on Friday nights….. do not fear… I am not a stalker….

Last Night, Matthew…. I seem to have been Phantom of The Opera….. ah well… there we are

  21. GL I was not suggesting any sexual overtones to Charon’s posts. The “Evil One” as you refer to a particular individual has assured me of Charon’s proclivities. I just noted that there were a fair number of posts all within a very short time frame.

I still liked the other theme better, it seemed to suit your inner self better.
